Artists who work concurrently on paintings with distinctly different styles and concepts have often been criticised. Their critics claim lack of integrity and gravitas or a perceptible failure to develop ideas in a consistent way. Artists who have fallen into this category include, Gerhard Richter, Joanna Carrington and Piet Mondrian, amongst others. Let Pat Keay explain her rationale for the content of this exhibition entitled ‘STRANDS’.
